Disadvantages: Any accommodations and support that you receive while the assessment process is underway would be general, and not necessarily tailored to your specific learning needs.
Some parts of the ADA didn’t go into effect until after that date to give entities time to comply with the law, but those compliance deadlines have passed.
It prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability in employment, state and local government programs, public accommodations, commercial facilities, transportation, and telecommunications.
Some psychiatric conditions require updating documentation every six months, as appropriate.
In addition, delaying the assessment could mean that your accommodations will not be fully in place by September.
If you apply to the LD Credit Course, your registration would be conditional on your assessment arriving at SAS by August.
Note that a current assessment is one that was completed at age 18 or older; or within the last 3 years and using adult normed tests.
A current psycho-educational assessment is needed when registering with SAS - typically by June 15 for new students.
